Manual¶
Welcome to Uberspace!¶
On this page, we'll walk you through the basics of navigating your Asteroid. We provide a hosting platform targeted at people who want to look behind the scenes, do things we didn’t anticipate and generally prefer working with a text-based console.
Our objective is to not only host the content you’d like to see on the web, but also to introduce you to Linux and basic shell usage - regardless of your budget.

Changelog for current release: v8.0.102 - 2026-11-05¶
Added:
- You can now enable and disable Caddy access logs and Apache error logs with
uberspace web log. Useuberspace web log listto see which logs are enabled. - You can now set additional systemd directives when creating a service with
uberspace service add. Use--directive KEY=VALUEfor settings such asRestart=alwaysorRestartSec=5, and repeat the option to set multiple directives.
Changed:
- Caddy access logs and Apache error logs are now disabled by default on new Asteroids. On existing Asteroids, they remain enabled to avoid disrupting applications and workflows that rely on them. If you do not need these logs, disable them once. PHP error logging is configured separately in your PHP-FPM configuration.
Fixed:
- Logs are rotated daily and kept for seven days. Previously, a bug caused Caddy logs to be retained based on a 50 MB size limit instead of time.
