Added:

You can now enable and disable Caddy access logs and Apache error logs with uberspace web log. Use uberspace web log list to see which logs are enabled.
You can now set additional systemd directives when creating a service with uberspace service add. Use --directive KEY=VALUE for settings such as Restart=always or RestartSec=5, and repeat the option to set multiple directives.

Changed:

Caddy access logs and Apache error logs are now disabled by default on new Asteroids. On existing Asteroids, they remain enabled to avoid disrupting applications and workflows that rely on them. If you do not need these logs, disable them once. PHP error logging is configured separately in your PHP-FPM configuration.

Fixed:

Logs are rotated daily and kept for seven days. Previously, a bug caused Caddy logs to be retained based on a 50 MB size limit instead of time.

Changed:

We now block IP addresses for one day after two SSH login attempts as root or with an invalid username within five minutes. Previously, only attempts as root were covered, with a limit of five attempts within two minutes. Check your Asteroid name carefully: typos can trigger this block too. For valid Asteroid names, the limit remains 100 failed logins within five minutes, with the same one-day block.

Fixed:

Logging into our Dashboard with curl works again after the update to curl 8.22.0. Installing publicsuffixlist resolved the issue.

Sieve filters now allow a maximum of 10 redirect actions.
We now block web requests to version control directories (.git, .hg, .jj, .svn, and Sapling’s .sl), common files and directories that may contain secrets (.aws, .docker, .npmrc, .htaccess, and .htpasswd), and environment files (.env and .env.*). Requests to these paths now return 403 Forbidden.

Fixed:

Outgoing connections to external servers on port 25 are blocked again. Moving Asteroids into network namespaces had unintentionally bypassed the global firewall rules that already blocked these connections.
Cronjobs now run in their Asteroid’s systemd slice instead of /system.slice/cronie.service.

Outgoing mail from @uber.space addresses is now signed with DKIM, so receiving providers can verify that messages really came from us.

Fixed:

Deleting a mailbox that was set as the domain’s catch-all address now removes the catch-all rule as well. Previously the mailbox disappeared, but the catch-all alias stayed in place and could still route mail for that domain.

Changed:

nano now uses the default configuration shipped with the package.

So this is it, this is the final Alpha release before we declare Uberspace 8 Beta. At the same time this is the first release with a public changelog, all things are falling into place. Everything sparkles. Everything is new but also already vigorously tested by 60 brave testers.
